Oh yes! Yesterday, during the Democratic Design Day in Älmhult (Sweden), IKEA announced that it will be launching two special limited edition collections. One with the Danish design brand HAY and one with the British Tom Dixon.
The YPPERLIG line, which is designed in collaboration with HAY, will focus on the future of Scandinavian design for the living room. The collection will consist of about 50 pieces in light colours, high quality and clean lines like we are used from Scandinavian design.
Mette Hay says: “The way we work with products in the collection is by uniting and combining colors for a fresh, modern look. The elements we have worked with IKEA, experimenting with many different materials – aluminum, metal, terracotta, textiles, plastics and wood – to create a versatile range with various options for use, which we are very excited about.”
The collection with Tom Dixon will be all about furniture solutions for small spaces and technical developments with a focus on seating. One of the things I really like is that the typical blue IKEA bag also got a makeover. It will be available in ten new colours and different materials.
Both collections will be for sale from fall 2017.
